Microneedling

Microneedling is a versatile cosmetic treatment that harnesses the natural regenerative capabilities of your skin, often enhanced with the use of your own plasma, to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This procedure is designed to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin, addressing a variety of skin concerns.

Overview of Microneedling

  • Procedure Technique: Involves using a device with fine needles to create micro-injuries on the skin's surface.

  • Purpose: These micro-injuries trigger the body's natural healing process, which includes the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins essential for maintaining youthful, elastic skin.

Combination with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

  • Enhancing Effects with PRP: Often, microneedling is combined with PRP therapy, where plasma from your own blood is applied to the skin during the microneedling procedure.

  • PRP's Role: The growth factors in PRP can significantly enhance the healing process and stimulate skin renewal, leading to more pronounced results.

Benefits of Microneedling

  1. Skin Rejuvenation: Promotes smoother, more radiant skin by reducing signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles.

  2. Improves Skin Texture and Tone: Effective in treating scars, including acne scars, and uneven skin texture.

  3. Enhances Skin Firmness: Boosts the skin’s elasticity, reducing the appearance of pores and sagging skin.

  4. Versatile Treatment: Suitable for various skin types and can be used on different parts of the body.

  5. Natural Approach: Utilizes the body's own healing mechanisms, making it a more natural form of skin therapy.

Considerations and Safety

  • Treatment Course: Typically requires multiple sessions for optimal results, with sessions spaced several weeks apart.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects include redness, swelling, and mild discomfort post-treatment, usually subsiding within a few days.

  • Not Suitable for Everyone: Not recommended for individuals with certain skin conditions, active acne, or those prone to keloid scarring.

  • Professional Consultation Required: A thorough assessment by a qualified skincare professional is necessary to determine if microneedling is suitable for you.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Aftercare Guidelines: Following the provider's aftercare instructions is crucial for healing and achieving the best results.

  • Sun Protection: Avoiding direct sun exposure and using sunscreen is important post-treatment to protect the treated areas.

About Microneedling

What it is

Microneedling with PRP is a minimally invasive procedure that creates micro wounds in the skin to stimulate collagen production. This multi purpose treatment takes advantage of the body’s natural healing process to treat a variety of skin conditions. To achieve optimal results, a series of multiple treatments is typically recommended.

How it works:

Microneedling uses a handheld device that uses extremely sharp, sterile needles to puncture the skin and stimulate collagen. Adding PRP in addition to microneedling has been shown to make the treatment more effective because the PRP contains proteins, including growth factors and cytokines, which help skin tissue repair itself and regenerate.

What to expect:

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure with very little downtime. Our injector will take a blood sample and then use a spinning tool called a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and a numbing cream will be applied prior to the treatment. During the treatment, your own PRP will be applied to the treatment area. You may feel some warmth and a scratching/pulling sensation as the device moves over your skin, but the numbing cream should keep pain to a minimum. Immediately after treatment, your skin will likely be red and swollen; this can last up to a few days. You can return to your normal routine immediately after the procedure, but you should stay out of the sun until your skin heals.

  • acne scars

  • surgical scars

  • wrinkles and fine lines
